4 quick ways to update your style this year

Posted by Yun Yun Sun on

A new year always gets me in the mood to reset my life; new goals, health kicks, productivity apps, Pilates bulk passes and a wardrobe/style refresh (duh). But this doesn’t always have to mean ‘out with the old in with new’.

I’m feeling super creative in 2017 – and I’m extending that to my wardrobe, too.

You don’t need to rush out and buy a bunch of things to feel ‘fresh’ again, you just need to put a new spin on your wardrobe staples.

If you’re obsessed with French girl style like me (and everyone else?!), there’s a good chance you own a leather jacket, a striped shirt and a denim skirt – but accessories make the world of difference to this classic combo.

I hope these tips inspire you to stay in love with the things you have in your wardrobe, and get excited about coming up with new ways to wear them.

ONE | Experiment with eyewear. RN I’m loving tinted coloured lenses (like these pink ones!) I’m all about that 90s vibe they add to an outfit. If you think they’re tricky to pull-off, try them with a plain tee. You might be surprised!

Hint: you can obviously splurge, but if saving $$$ is one of your resolutions, have a look on eBay. Our STREET 365 babe Eunice found these amazing yellow ones on there for $2!

TWO | OTT is the new understated. When you’re on the hunt for a new handbag, go for one with statement hardware. It will spice-up the most basic of outfits, but I also love the drama it creates when I wear it with prints. I love to know what’s inside other women’s handbags and I thought maybe you might wanna know what’s inside my Proenza one!

THREE | Bored with your outfit? BRING THE BELT. For some reason, I always forget to wear one but they instantly make any outfit cool. Toughen up your plain-tee-and-denim combo, or try one with a dress. We’ve hand selected the only basic b***ches you want in your life incase you’re on the hunt for new tees ‘n jeans to go UNDER DA BELT.

FOUR | Accessorise your ears. The more the merrier, I say. If piercings scare you, play around with ear cuffs (confession: my third hole is actually a clip-on cuff from Catbird!). I also recently got these incredible Loewe hoops and I haven’t taken them off since. They’re the kind of thing I plan to hold on to forever!
